Dualtron vs Rovoron: Which Minimotors Scooter Should You Buy?

Dualtron SA10 September 2026

If you've been shopping for a high-performance electric scooter, you've noticed two names dominating the premium end in South Africa: Dualtron and Rovoron. And you've probably asked the obvious question: which one is better?

Here's the answer most dealers won't give you straight: they're both Minimotors. Both ranges are engineered by Minimotors Co., Ltd — the Korean company that has been building some of the world's fastest production scooters since 1999. Same engineering DNA, same obsession with power. The difference is in what each range is optimized for.

The short version

Dualtron is the heritage flagship line. Think Victor Limited — 80 km/h, limited production runs, collector-grade machines, and the long-running favourites like the Togo and Forever that built the brand's commuter reputation.

Rovoron is the newer performance line — machines like the R5, R7 and the flagship S7 — built to push speed and value harder. The S7's 110 km/h top speed makes it the fastest scooter on Dualtron South Africa's floor.

Range by range

Entry level: Togo Max (Dualtron, R15,700) vs Rovoron R5 (R26,450). The Togo Max is the cheaper, lighter, more practical commuter. The R5 costs more but brings a bigger 20.8Ah battery and a sturdier performance platform.

Mid range: Forever 18.2Ah/27Ah (Dualtron, R20,900/R24,000) and Victor Limited (from R48,500) vs Rovoron R7 (R29,900), R7 Pro (R38,000) and R5 Pro (R32,600). This is where the fight is closest. The Forever is the distance king; the R7 twins are the speed-and-value play.

Flagship: Victor Limited 37Ah (Dualtron, R54,999) vs Rovoron S7 (R56,000). The Victor is the limited-run collector's piece. The S7 is the outright apex — 84V architecture and a 110 km/h ceiling that nothing else in the lineup touches.

So which should you buy?

Choose Dualtron if: you want a proven commuter platform (Togo, Forever), or you want the limited-edition flagship heritage (Victor).

Choose Rovoron if: you want maximum performance per rand, or you simply want the fastest machine you can legally-adjacent ride — the S7.

Choose either if: you just want a scooter built by the most experienced performance scooter maker on the planet. You can't really go wrong.
